e-Channel clients’ learning needs are assessed to make sure that training programs meet their requirements, learning plans are developed, and then training begins.

Online Courses From Five Providers
e-Channel is the online LBS program serving adult residents of Ontario at no cost to the client.
Instruction on e-Channel takes place online and can be experienced in live classes at scheduled times, anytime through independent study and short courses, or through arranged one-on-one mentoring. The courses and classes offered by the e-Channel providers featured below, will help clients set, and reach, their unique goals:
Good Learning Anywhere provides online programs designed for adult Aboriginals in Ontario. Clients can select courses related to Jobs and Careers, GED or High School, Gaining Independence, or College Preparation.
Clients can register for Good Learning Anywhere online or via a 1-800 number available on their website by clicking the “Register Now” button. Any client is encouraged to sample online learning in Good Learning Anywhere’s monthly Sharing Circles by submitting only their name and email.

Deaf Learn Now provides online programs for Deaf, Deaf-Blind, and Hard of Hearing clients. Clients can register on the Deaf Learn Now website and join an online community that uses text and video messaging to communicate. They will connect with practitioners directly via video chat using American Sign Language. A video will guide clients through the registration process.
Following the mandatory “Welcome to Deaf Learn Now” course, clients can register for other courses of particular interest to those familiar with deaf culture, as well as for practical courses such as an in-depth look at Ontario’s Driver’s License Handbook, including practice quizzes to prepare for the G1 written test.

The LearningHUB provides opportunities for English speaking adults to upgrade their skills by offering a combination of learning options based on their preference or needs. Courses are offered in a variety of subjects including reading, writing, math, computer and other essential workplace skills. After completing the “Get Registered” page on the LearningHUB website, clients are paired with an online mentor who offers continuous support and encouragement. Curriculum is assigned based on each client’s unique goal path, skill level and personal commitment.

Formation à Distance (F@D) serves French language clients with an extensive selection of online courses in a variety of subject areas as well as offering microprograms on improving written French, using Google tools, learning computer basics, and the fundamentals of math. After registering on the F@D webpage, clients are contacted by phone. Mentors fully support clients in course selection and other areas.

Clients whose specific goal is to apply and prepare for post-secondary education and apprenticeship training can register online with the Academic and Career Entrance (ACE) Distance program.
Step by step instruction is available on the ACE website. Once registered, the “Learn-to-Learn” course is a required first step of orientation and the preparation of the client’s individual training plan. Following Learnto- Learn, clients may register in January, March, April, June, September, and November for tuition-free post secondary courses in areas such as math, science, communications, self-management, and computers. All courses are offered at a grade 11 level, in both English and French.
